Date: 6th December 2020

Time: 4.22 pm

Reason: Swimmer needing assistance

H M Coastguard requested the launch of the lifeboat at 4:22pm to go to the assistance of a person who had entered the sea north of Cresswell.

The lifeboat proceeded to the location when further information was received saying the person had been brought ashore by others but needed medical assistance from the lifeboat crew.

Once on scene Coastguard units from Newbiggin and Amble were arriving at the beach, sea conditions were rough making the lifeboats approach to the beach difficult so H M Coastguard requested the lifeboat to standby at sea until casualties were assessed by others.

As an ambulance arrived the lifeboat was released from the tasking and then returned to station.
